Paul, before the Lord gave him the name Paul he was Saul. Saul hated Christians he was at and may have began the stoning of Stephan the first martyr for Jesus. i cannot wait to get to heaven and meet Paul. He turned his life around and suffered for Christ, he HATED Christians that loved Christ. He grew up in a Jewish home and did the practices, was circumcised and did all that praying to turn his life over when the Lord struck him blind for 3 days on the road to Damascus, after that he endured jail, ship wrecks, floggings, all in the name of Christ Jesus. I admire this man so much, he is exactly why Jesus died for the sinner the hater of Christ. If we choose not to fol ow and live for Jesus then we hate God, if we ask for forgiveness and truly re pent of our sin we live forever with God this is the only reason we were created!! The Bible says if we didn't worship the Lord then the rocks would cry out, I do not want any rock crying out on my behalf!! Jesus died for our sin it is so urgent that we realize this for we never know when our number will get pulled.

CS Lewis, Philip Yancey, both authors...both have my eternal gratitude. They are what I would consider Christian intellectuals...both have done serious battle with their beliefs and so they are hard won...their work isn't preachy but both men are intensely devoted to Christ.

Jimmy Carter. His faith is a part of everything he does. Habitat for Humanity is one of the most important organizations I know of.

Bill Gaither. His music ministry is very diverse. He knows how to bring people together from all denominations to worship, and he has a lot of fun doing it.

Dorothy Day. Incredible woman who started the Catholic Worker Movement, a ministry to the poor that is still going today.

Mother Angelica...the nun from EWTN. Her lessons are always inspiring and she founded that network almost entirely on her own.

Mother Teresa. HELLO?

Dr Martin Luther King, Jr. He lived and died by his beliefs, and the civil rights movement would not have been the same without him. He preached love when everyone else was preaching hate and revenge. He wanted white people to be part of the healing process...and as a white person who is still very concerned about race issues, I'm very glad that I have a place in the struggle.

Nicky Gumbel who is known worldwide by many as the person who designed the ALPHA program. I really have respect for him because he has found a way to create a safe environment for people who do not believe in God to be able to learn more about what Christians believe without being slaughtered for their difference in belief.

C.S. Lewis. The Chronicles of Narnia series is a Christian allegory and the themes presented of honor, sacrifice, compassion, and forgiveness were formative to developing my moral system in my childhood years.

I feel the much the same for Madeleine L'Engle for the Wrinkle in Time series. Her books are very powerful and speak to the heart.

I have purchased both series to read to my young daughter.

The Reverend Billy Graham, Charles Stanley.James Kennedy.James Dobson. Mother Theresa.

These people's ministries and lives for decades exemplified the life and teachings of Christ. And many people around the nation and the world were impacted by their ministries. I will never forget the funeral held for Mother Theresa in India.

This is just my opinion, but you asked.

Mel Gibson. Although some may call him a Jew-hating, Christian crackpot I truly admire his faith. Although I am not a Christian or a big fan of any of his movies, I think highly of his passion and dedication to his faith.
