Europe used to be the most Christianized continent. My personal opinion is that this is at least a part of the great apostasy - turning away from the faith - prophesied by the Apostle Paul:
"Now we request you, brethren, with regard to the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him,
that you not be quickly shaken from your composure or be disturbed either by a spirit or a message or a letter as if from us, to the effect that the day of the Lord has come.
Let no one in any way deceive you, for it will not come unless the apostasy comes first, and the man of lawlessness (Antichrist) is revealed, the son of destruction,
who opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, displaying himself as being God."
II Thessalonians 2:1-4 NASB

maybe something did design our planet, but like wise, if u yourself create a chair, when it is all worn out and brittle and cracks in half, do you take it and make live on forever in some other magical dimension?
maybe there is a God, but he created us for the here and now, not the after.

Public school systems are very efficient in Europe so the education levels of the population are high.
When education and knowledge increase, religious superstitions and delusions quietly fade away dear.

Belief in God sometimes comes out of desperation? Have more = less likely to be desperate.
