Hello Trust Luv...
I am a Christian, a Roman Catholic Christian to be precise. I can say, as a resent convert to Islam, you should be very careful to get a religious education from Clerics (I hope this is the correct word) who follow the more modern, moderate Muslim beliefs.
Islam is no different than most other religions in that it's teachings were originally laid down for a people living in a completely different time and in a totally different social climate. Christianity is exactly the same. In both The Holy Quran and The Holy Bible anyone can find references which indicate or outright incite violence, war and the taking of lives.
Again, I must point out when they were written. I will also say anyone wanting to find a reason to engage in violence will find justification for it in any religious text ever written or for that matter, in the Yellow Pages of the phone book.
The violence in Iraq and other parts of the Middle East has nothing to do with Islam or for that matter, Democracy. It has to do with power. The power of controlling the oil and the trillions of dollars it will bring to those who end up with this power. Sure, the pawns on both sides of this global chessboard are believers of Islam and Democracy but the true players of the game know the stakes and this is why the conflict rages on.
I can guarantee you the common soldiers and combatants are more than tired of losing loved ones, homes, and of the killing, which is not an easy thing to live with. If left to their own devices, I'm sure they would long ago have agreed to pull their pants up and go home.
Religion is here to aid mankind, not to drag it down and destroy it. If this were not true, what use would it have for the devil ? He would have nothing to do if God, Himself wanted His followers to destroy the world in His image.
Find the truths, benefits and in-sites Islam can offer you that will guide you through life and help you in being the best person you can be.
Violence will never be the solution to a true religious question no matter how many people try to disguise it as such.
I hope this is of some help to you,
Lenny.

Not there in that form. Various Quranic verses advocate doing dirt to non-believers, and antisocial types use these for justification for their nefarious acts.

"Of course it's not permitted, didn't you hear if you kill one man is like you if killed the whole humanity"? what other proof you need with that, the terrorist that kill innocent people are after power, they have no interest in religion , they want to rule by all means necessary.

Sura (4:89) - "They but wish that ye should reject Faith, as they do, and thus be on the same footing (as they): But take not friends from their ranks until they flee in the way of Allah (From what is forbidden). But if they turn renegades, seize them and slay them wherever ye find them"
Bukhari (52:260) - "...The Prophet said, 'If somebody (a Muslim) discards his religion, kill him.' "

Just because it is not in the koran does not mean it is not condoned by muslims. What other religion besides Islam has followers that engage in this activity?

If you search for Death, you can always find. Doesn't mean it's there; just that the Word can always be twisted by evil men, no matter what faith they are.
