better than nothing but you need some form of protein like eggs or milk. meals should always be protein based

NO! The old saying "breakfast is the most important meal of the day" is true. If you are looking to drop a few pounds or cut calories, you would do better to increase your exercise and not eat past 6pm. Eating just a banana for breakfast just causes your metabolism and blood sugar to drop and make you feel very ill all day.
