ok so he's stationed at ft drum, and we know what the bah is for there. but while he is deployed we are staying here in alaska. i know they have to adjust it to where the family is located, not where he is stationed.

Once you are married, he will receive the w/ dependents rate for his home station and grade. For 2008 the rate at Fort Drum for E-4 w/dep wil be $1052/month for E-5 it will be $1121/month. Even though you and the children will be living in Alaska, he will only get the Fort Drum rate. If he were stationed in Alaska, the rate would be determined by post--for an E-4 it would be $1433 for Fort Richardson and $1533 for Fort Wainwright. He would also be entitled to COLA for himself and his dependents.

Sorry, Melo, the way it works is based on the SOLDIER'S home station--in this case Ft. Drum. There is no provision to adjust it for the family. You could go to Alaska, Florida, or Zimbabwae and the rate would be the same.

I'm sorry if that sounded harsh...it's not intended. I have been doing this for a few years though, so I know what I'm talking about. I will try and find a good reference for you.

DoD Per Diem, Travel and Transportation Allowance Committe sets the rates. Their website is here if you have any other concerns:

or

I hope this helps. Have a lovely wedding and good luck with your pregnancy.

there is a difference. BAH gos by where you are stationed. Contact the finance Dept on base and they will be able to tell you.

Like the others here have already said, even though he will deploy, BAH is of the home station, Ft Drum, NY

Copy and paste the link. Or just google your question.
Once you are married and you and your spouse move to Alaska, your husband deploys you will get paid BAH for Alaska as that is where you have take a domicile at.

well they just released the BAH raises for 2008, and it depends on where in alaska you're gonna be but for an E-4 in the Fairbanks area, single rate its approx $793 right now, married with dependent its $1400...with the new 2008 BAH rates, which is what you need to know single rate jumps up to $1150 and married with dependents goes up to $1533.00

The website with the new 2008 rates for BAH is http://perdiem.hqda.pentagon.mil/perdiem/bah.html you just type in the zipcode of where in alaska and get the new rates.

if hes stationed at ft drum and you CHOOSE to live somewhere else while hes deployed his BAH will remain the same as his home duty station. the only way that changes is if A. there is a medical reason for you to not go there (need specialty treatment etc) OR B. if he goes on a hardship tour (like Korea)

actually no, they do NOT have to adjust it during a deployment. since he is at Drum, BAH will be based on Drum. BAH is always based on DUTY STATION< not where the family members choose to reside while on Accompanied Orders.

Since he will be getting married while stationed at Drum, that's what his BAH will be. You will NOT qualify for AK BAH. His orders to Drum listed him as single. therefore any change in his status(getting married) only allows him to get BAH w/D at Drum.
