He will get #5 but all true Gordon fans know he should be going for #7---would have 2 more if not for the stupid chase but I still say he gets #5 before Jr gets #1

yes, undoubtedly Jeff will get his 5th. No, I'm not a fan, but I do have to give props for the talent he has. Honestly, I could see Gordon winning 6, perhaps even tieing Earnhardt and Petty with 7, but I just don't see him getting 8. I think he'll retire before he gets that far. Those are the two greatest numbers. 8 Championships, and over 200 wins. Can he reach either of those, and I think you have to call him the greatest of all time. As of now, I think he's the biggest threat to do so.

It's hard to predict whether or not he will win his 5th, although he definitely deserves it.

The problem is that the Chase now makes luck much more of a factor. If you get on a hot streak for 10 races, you'll be the champion. If you have any bad luck, your chances are seriously hampered. It's a shame that this system doesn't truly recognize the driver that has the best season.

If he gets lucky.....he'll win.

Yes he's gonna get the elusive 5th. But he will surpass that and go on to get at leat 9 championships. He has beat so many records, why should he stop now!

I think that Jeff will win his 5th and a few more depending on when he retires. He's the best on the track today with jimmie running a close second.

He'll get the 5th title very soon, probably next year.

To those that say he'll not reach 8, he would have already won 6 if not for the chase format.

Winning four more championships is going to be easy for Gordon.

Then again, he always made such spectacular feats easy.

I Think he will get number 5 eventually, but Jimmie Johnson will get number 3 before he gets his fifith. On the Championship deal, Denny Hamlin is going to be huge next year.

Jeff will get number 5,but looks like it will be harder with the talent that is in NASCAR.
