It's off season so i'm bored but this is cool.
Both links are from www.jayski.com/
The links further confirm seperating the 'Sprint Cup' and 'Nationwide series' by changing the suspension package and bodystyles for the 'Nationwide series' for '09. Ford is the first to make a statement, stating they will run a Mustang if need be. Chevy is balking on the Camaro at this time but Dodge has acknowledged a Challenger body for Nascar.
Sweet!!
Toyota is stuck with a Camry since the Solara is going to be dropped after '08.
(I asked a similar question a while back. These are the most recent links on the subject.)

Quote from link below:
--A source at Ford Motor Company says the motorsports division expects the Ford Mustang to replace the Fusion in the NASCAR Busch series. "We're expecting to run the Mustang in 2009," the source said.--

to change the style and the basic package for the Nationwide series is a step in the right direction.the cars today are so close that most cup drivers running are using the event as a test session. With a change in body style and package this will take an advantage away from some teams.
And to run the Pony cars again is a good move.

Boy I hope so. That's one thing I've alway wanted to see in NASCAR. I'd love to see pony cars running on superspeedways. 'Stang .v. Camero.v.Challenger? Are you kidding? The only way they could improve this is to bring back Pontiac and the Firebird! I'd not worry too much about Toyota, I'm sure by then they'll have something out to compete in that market.

It would definitely give them a identity of their own. But I bet there would still be Cup drivers moonlighting in it, I dont think they will be able to do something about the cup guys driving in the lower series unless they make a rule that doesnt allow them. I would like it.(but i like racing no matter what they drive)

I think Mustangs, Camaros and Challengers would be cool. I worry about how much they will cost though and whether small teams will be able to afford the switch.

the idea of a switch bring in itself other questions not the least of them is affordability of such a change, that was the reason behind the cot wasn't it??? Then you have to look at the drivers that use the bush series to test for the next days race, that would be a moot point if they use totally different cars....
