Are there Godesses? Why would God need to have a gender, if there is nobody to procreate with? Do you feel that God's gender may have been inspired by the people that wrote the Bible?

God has no gender.

Due to the limitations of the English language (and all languages really), when describing something in the third person singular we can say either "he", "she", or "it".

"It" is usually only used in reference to an object. God is not an object, so "it" is out.

Now we're left with "he" or "she". In the English language there is no unisex pronoun, so we have to choose one. We have chosen "he", but that doesn't mean God is a man. If we chose to use "she", you would be on here asking why God is a woman!

I'am a Woman, and not once have I gotten on my feminist pedestal and actually gotten upset as to ask why God is a man.

God is not human remember that.
But the answer to your question would be-God is called the Father plenty times-meaning He must be of a male figure.
There are no Godesses-people worshiped other false God's and were punished for such-same as today they will be punished.

And God's gender is not what is important anyway-we must follow His Will and His Word. Do not come with silly questions as to not be in offense unto God. It seems as if you are being a little Blasphemous. I hope that that helped you.

God needs a gender because he is the creator.
He created Adam first. then finding that Adam is lonely, decided to create Eve - a woman, to conforth Adam.
That means God already had the concept of Gender before he create other things.

So if his creatures have Gender, he himseflf must have gender too!

Of course, God has someone he can procreate with.
Do you remember the Bible story that Mary, the mother of Christ was pregnant with the son of God?

Of course there are goddesses. The pagan religions of the north were full of them. Of course god's gender was influenced by the people who came up with it. The pagans focused on procreation, nurturing and fertility which goes along with having female goddesses. The god of the jews was a man preoccupied with punishing people...typical of a father figure no? It's just human imagination.

I assume you mean is God male. Here's a little scientific formula that proves it. Adam was made in God's image, Adam was male. Eve was derived from Adam.

Adam had both an x and a y chromosome, being male, Eve only had x chromosomes, therefore both God and Adam, being male have the patterns for both male and female in their makeup while a godess would only have the x pattern for females. As Both Adam and God have the pattern for both, and Adam was made in God's image, God is therefore male.

It depends on what kind of culture writes the definition of "God" I mean if it is a male orientated society like Islam, Judaism and Christianity then yes god is a man.

yeh it would be from the people who wrote it.

I dont think god has to have a sex but it is probably easier then calling him it. It is just how people imagine it.

probably because women are seen as inferior at the time it was written, so someone powerful is more likely thought to be a man.

The Bible uses the male pronoun because it's the default; we say HIM, but in all honesty, God doesn't have a gender according to Abrahamic Faiths.

I wouldn't say "inspired" so much as "excluded". Gods and Goddesses have been around far longer than the bible. Those who wrote, and rewrote, and rewrote, the bible...well, they kinda wrote feminine deities out of their perception of history.

(1 TIMOTHY 2:11-15) Let a woman learn in silence with full submissiveness. 12 I do not permit a woman to teach, or to exercise authority over a man, but to be in silence. 13 For Adam was formed first, then Eve. 14 Also, Adam was not deceived, but the woman was thoroughly deceived and came to be in transgression. 15 However, she will be kept safe through childbearing, provided they continue in faith and love and sanctification along with soundness of mind.

Females are subject to being deceived.

Females are designed by God to be helpers.

(GENESIS 2:18) And Jehovah God went on to say: “It is not good for the man to continue by himself. I am going to make a helper for him, as a complement of him.”
