When it was warmer, I was going for walks everyday, atleast 30 min, sometimes more. Because I was exercising, I was more careful about my diet. I even cut down on my Mountain Dews to one can every other day. Now it is too cold to go out (have to take baby with me--too cold for her). Everything is unraveling and I have gained 6 lbs already. Anyone else going through this? What do you do to stop winter weight gain?

While I am not personally going through that, I can give you some health hints:
if you have the money for a treadmill, that can help you simulate the walking experience. If not, try lifting weights, doing sit-ups, finding a staircase in your house or apartment to run up and down.
You should cut down on the mountain dews altogether, they're really pretty bad for you. Next time you reach for one, take a glass and fill it with water instead. Not only will you feel better, but you'll limit your sugar intake.
Work on your diet: target anything that might be adding to your weight gain (fast food, large desserts--check the Nutrition Facts for calories) and replace it with healthy foods like salads.
Good luck!

I totally know what you mean! It is cold and I have a 3 year old and don't want to take her out in the cold. In the summer and fall, I walked daily and even jogged. Now I don't even want to step foot out in this weather. I too LOVE Mountain Dew. I was eyeballing one today but resisted and grabbed a water instead. Next time I may not be so tough. Haha!

You can stop it by going out in the afternoon, when it is warmer. Cut out soda altogether, don't pig out, and just do a lot of stuff indoors. (push ups, sit ups, jumping jacks, running on a treadmill) You could also get a membership to a gym or just bundle up when it's really cold.

It's very difficult to lose weight during the winter months because of the tendency to be inactive and all those holiday munchies are like magnets to our palettes. The only thing to combat the scale to tip is to dance your heart away as frequent as your time allows. Drink lots of water and graze (small consumption of food) on veggie snacks and multi-grain food.

I have gotten plenty of exercise with 2 big ice storms and a 46 hour electrical outage at 15 degrees, it was nice and cold you burn up calories keeping warm, and 4 hours of chopping ice. for 3 days in a row, and a snowstorm Saturday and Sunday shoveling snow

Well, I have a membership at a gym so there is no excuse for me to not be active. I also do not over indulge in all the holiday goodies. I will have a taste here and there, but not over do it. Remember, a moment on the lips, forever on the hips. It's not worth it.
