I agree with you all the way. Like when little kids get on here and they want to hurt them self or they are depessed fro braking up with there boyfriends. It just like hunny if you only knew what i struggled with everyday. if this yet then you got it way easy. But I total understand where you are coming from. I had depression for about 16years. with cutting and sudical behavihor for about 2years.

about 5 years ago, I started to fall into a really depressive episode. At first I thought it was only because I had a bad break from a relationship but the feelings wouldn't go away even after I got a new girlfriend. It was wrecking my life until a point where it was seriously affecting my work and personal life.
She was very worried but at the same time couldn't understand why I was still sad and thought that I still couldn't let go of my previous relationship. Being the wonderful person that she is, she put aside her feelings and suggested I go for psychiatric evaluation. Many months later and even more anti-depressants, I was not coming close to being better at all.
After doing some research online, I found out the real cause as you described it really makes a lot of sense and purchased this program. The results were simply astonishing. I read this book over three times and put all words in action. Using this method, I've kept my depression at bay ever since. Up to date I'm still living happily with my girlfriend.

There's a difference to "feeling depressed" and "having depression". There are times when I'm feeling depressed: I have such low self-confidence or just feel like crap that I can barely face the day. But 9 times out of 10 I feel good with myself, and I go and do productive things, or just have a laugh. So I don't have depression, and I don't need medical help. However people with depression do need medical help, be it a psychiatrist, physician or psychologist.
Don't get frustrated when people, especially kids, "feel depressed" when their parents won't take them too the mall. They're not saying they have the same struggle you do at all, it's just how they feel. Adolecents have certain hormonal imbalances that will make them actually feel depressed when they're denied something they want, but they bounce back pretty easily. Give them a break, because while adolecence isn't even close to as hard as your struggle, it is still a rollorcoaster of emotions.
P.S. I hope you seek out and get the help you need to overcome your depression. Take care.

It is a very overused term. And a lot of people use the word depressed to just describe when they are a little down. But they have absolutely no idea what it is like to be depressed. So, yes. I agree. I think people need to know what they are talking about before they say something.

You're not wrong at all!
I completely agree. I'm always frustrated with hearing people say they're "depressed" when they're just sad, or that they "have a panic attack" when they don't even know what that means at all.
Those things are exactly why so many people don't look at depression and anxiety and various other mental disorders as anything real or a problem - as they truly believe that what they feel and describe as "depression" or a "panic attack" is what we go through. And what they are feeling is NOTHING. So naturally, if that's all we go through - then it's nothing as well.
Stupid people ruin the world for everyone.
In conclusion of my rant - I agree with you. Wholeheartedly.

As you know, there are different types of depression; situational and then what you have, clinical. But when people flippantly use depression to describe how they feel when they can't go to the mall, these are immature people that really don't understand what they are saying.
I know what you mean, but someday, they are going to understand the REAL meaning, believe me.
I am glad you did get the help you needed to feel better. Take care.

It's different when someone says their 'depressed' then when they say they have 'depression'. 'Depression is caused by a chemical imbalence in the brain (which you should know already :)) and one of the symptoms is feeling sad and depressed, my point...feeling depressed is an emotion, depression is a mental illness when someone says there feeling depressed they are feeling sad at the moment, there not saying they have an illness and there not mocking you their just using the emotion to express how they feel.

Depression is serious business. Please educate yourself to the symptoms and treatments and get some help. Don't try to do this on your own. Here are more resources:
