No. Not really. There are 15 million Coptic Christians. Do some research on Egypt.

Cultures always mix together. People in the Andes mountains of South America have their own version of Christianity in which they combine the ancient Incan symbolism with Catholicism. More towards Africans, in Brazil, they combined their traditional religion of Candomble with Christianity. The result is a strange mix of voodoo and saint worship. My point is that cultures mix easily.

Yeah they did have there own identity and beliefs before they were slaves, then they get to the states and had all forms of connection to the homeland, names, religious beliefs literally beaten out of them. After that, all that the slaves had was the beliefs of the slave masters.

I've wondered that myself--christianity is such a WASPy religion, at least in its beginnings. But the "master" was even more embedded in them as slaves, and I imagine they did what the masters did. Certainly being slaves to the man gave them reason to believe in a god, a reason to pray, and a reason to have some kind of hope.

Missionaries.
I beleive that Africa was inundated with missionaries before and during the flood of slave traders.
Besides, I think that all of America is highly religious.

Sure they did, but once here they were living in the deep south and their owners were most likely Baptists who wanted to give them their beliefs.
