It isn't illegal to run OS X on a PC, it just isn't supported by Apple, so you'd be on your own if you had any problems. Microsoft does support Windows being run either using Boot Camp or one of the emulators that allow you to install Windows as a Mac application.

The bottom line is Server edition leopard CAN run on a windows environment.. best through VMWARE. But... the normal workstation license prohibits this .. but cannot prevent it. There are lots of ways to accomplish it. In the end... Apple makes great hardware... the OS , equipment, and drivers all just work together.

Windows is platform independent, but Mac OS is designed to run only on hardware made by Apple. each Mac has a sp-ecial security chip on it that's not on other motherboards - if the OS doesn't find that chip, it won't install or run. In order to run it on other hardware, it has to be cracked, which is illegal. Apple has used the DMCA to close down boards even discussing running their OS on other hardware.

OS X is a proprietary software for the Mac. It hasn't been engineered to work on a PC. Microsoft licensed Windows to work on a Mac.

It's not illegal that I know about. You will need software that allows either your mac or pc to allow multiple operating systems. Then you choose which one you want. Microsoft offers a program I think that allows OS X to run on an PC. ....I think...

Its not illegal to run OS X on a wintel machine. Its just not supported on the Wintel architecture directly and needs to have several security hacks.
