We are coming in from out of town to watch the Colts play the Texans and we was wondering what are some good places to sit down and eat after the game near the dome. All suggestions are appreciated especially steakhouses. Thanks in advance!

St Elmos Steak House is one of the best.

Thankfully, you're in luck, Indianapolis loves its steakhouses!! It doesn't seem like a month goes by without an announcement of a new steakhouse venture. With this in mind, here are some suggestions:

St. Elmo's: An Indianapolis tradition, well known for its outstanding steaks, and its blazing-hot shrimp cocktail. Pricey (steaks will be in the $35-40 range), but excellent.

Harry & Izzy's: The new, and beautifully decorated little-brother of St. Elmo's. Built as an homage to the original owners of St. Elmo's, Harry and Izzy, the place is a little more swank in its design, and a little (and I mean only a little) less pricey. The menu has many more options than St. Elmo's, but you'll have the same access to the shrimp cocktail, many of the steak selections, and the service is equally attentive. Also, Peyton Manning is a part-owner, so Harry & Izzy's may be in keeping with the Colts game.

There are a multitude of other great steakhouse chains downtown: Morton's, Moe's, Capital Grille, Shula's, Ruth's Chris, etc. But, personally, I prefer to give my business to local places with a little more character. And, if you're willing to spend a lot on a great steakhouse, St. Elmo's should be your first stop.

Now, if you're interested in venturing a bit away from the steakhouse scene, I would recommend the following:

Elements (415 N Alabama St, Indianapolis, IN 46204) - one of my favorite restaurants in the city. A seasonal menu with some of the best and most innovative dishes you'll find in the city. Excellent service, excellent atmosphere, and previously named Restaurant of the Year in Indianapolis Monthly magazine. Call ahead for reservations though.

R Bistro (888 Mass Ave - http://www.rbistro.com/) - another great restaurant featuring only the freshest of items from local farmers. I find that they are often serving unique and upscale comfort food. A cool place in the quirky part of downtown - Mass. Ave.

A couple other suggestions you may want to check out: 14 West, Scholar's Inn, Dunaway's (a great steakhouse as well), and a new place called Bugg's Temple which has a really cool decor and is located just north of downtown near the Clarian Hospital complex.

Good luck.

The RCA dome is in downtown Indianapolis. All the restaurants are with in walking distance if weather permitting. If you can give me a price range that would help. We steakhouses from $100 a steak to prices more reasonable. We have some nice local places to the big boys like Don Shula's place. If you can give me more info I would be able to help you more.

At Circle Centre Mall there is a new restaraunt called Weber Grill Restaraunt. They specialize in steaks and it's a neat atmosphere. Upscale-casual. Not too expensive. Also P.F Changs if you like Asian cuisine. Circle Centre Mall is very close to the RCA Dome. Have a good time! And go Colts! :)

Definitely try Shula's. It's good food, it's right by the Dome, and you are clearly a football fan.

(I haven't had the steak, but others have told me it's great. I can vouch for their other stuff, though.)
