So I've moved back to the town where I grew up (why is irrellevant). I'm in my mid-20's. It's a very small town, and there aren't a lot of single people here in my age range (23-35). The few who stayed around here are the ones who think it's cool to go out, get drunk, and either shoot things or set them on fire. So lately I've been lacking when it comes to social interaction with my peers in a non-work environment. My best friend is married with 2 kids.
Since I've come back, I've run into an old classmate of mine. We chat for a few minutes, but I'm usually working so we can't talk long. Very recently, he asked me if I'd like to go out with him and I agreed. I don't really have any romantic inclinations toward him, but I really want the social interaction with a peer. Is this a bad reason to go out with him?

No, it sounds like a perfectly acceptable reason. You need some companionship, and you are clearly tired of isolation! Actually, you are probably better off on a first outing, when not having any romantic inclinations, as you can really get to know him without any preconceptions clouding your judgment. If you were to lead him on into thinking you were romantically inclined when you are not, that would be wrong, but just going out is not a problem, and you sound very intelligent and able to take care of yourself. Just see where it goes. Good luck!

No, but I would make sure he knew you just wanted to be friends, just so you don't lose all interactions with people your own age after he finds out you are not interested in anything romantic.
Good luck with finding people to hang out with, I know how hard that can be.

Go and have fun...but stay out of bed if you don't like him that way because then you would be misleading him. Unless of course, you have an agreement.

Of course it is bad to mislead him.
The only way you can make up for it now is to put out.

Is misleading bad? Mis-"bad or wrong"+leading.
If you are honest with him then it's OK, otherwise BAD!
