If you wish to be taken seriously in a professional career, you'd do well not to have any tattoos that can not be covered by normal clothing. Many people view tattoos on the hands or face as being indicators of criminal or gang behavior. These opinions can adversely effect your ability to command consideration in a professional setting.
It is your body, get whatever tattoos you desire. But remember when you hand that corporate executive search committee your resume, they will notice those tattoos on your hand. And they are not likely to be favorable impressed, even if the art work is terrific.

It will very possibly affect future jobs. some corporations do not like the idea of visible tattoos. some don't really care.
Personally I would never place a tattoo on the hand or arm if you are vying for a corporate job.
Place it on your leg instead?
Good Luck!

I've seen some tattoo artists that won't tattoo people on the hands or knuckles(or face, etc..) unless they already have extensive tattoo work...
I think you should be able to do what you want, but most likely it's going to effect finding a corporate job..

Several professional companies I have worked for have very specific rules regarding tattoos included in their dress code policies now. One company required all visible tattoos larger than a quarter to be covered. Another required all tattoos to be covered, regardless of size, while the third allowed all tattoos. If you are wanting a career in the corporate world then placement of your tattoo is something you will need to consider seriously.

let's think about this for a second. you're wondering if a tattoo on your hand will be visible? are you kidding? of course it will be unless you wear gloves all the time. but unless you have a career where visible tattoos, especially one of this magnitude, are acceptable, DON'T GET IT. sure, it is your body, your life, but are you willing to give up a great job that pays great money with great benefits? no one is. most of the people that have it that easy are movie stars and rock stars. sure, there may be other people out there, but they had to really, REALLY work for what they have. and in a lot of cases, those people weren't allowed to show their tattoos to begin with. but because they proved their worth, they moved up and/or the tattoos were just ignored. but that doesn't usually come for YEARS. so unless you have that wonderful career, don't get it. or you could wind up as a factory rat or flipping burgers forever.

Yes, if you plan to work in the corporate world you may want to reconsider putting a tattoo on your hand. Also, will you still like that tattoo on your hand when you become an old man?

2 issues to contemplate. First the region. Tattoo's on the neck and hand could be perceived as gang tattoo's and subsequently impression your means to discover jobs. additionally, I comprehend that your religious, yet crosses are very common and you will discover that tonnes of folk already have them. have faith me I even have 8 tattoo's and what attracts people to a bite of artwork is it incredibly is ORIGINALITY. The bible verse is an outstanding thought yet i'd come across it someplace that it may be hidden if want be.

I think it MIGHT affect it, especially if you want to be in a corporate job. Try holding off (at least until you get the job)... I want one on my neck, but everyone is telling me I shouldn't because jobs won't accept it. (Then again, I am a girl and can always use dermablend, it covers tattoos and other heavy pigments). You can try that too if you want it that bad :) You can buy it at CVS for about 18.50 a pop, but you're also going to need the Loose Powder to set it, which is 22.00. :) Hope I helped.

i just answered a question like this. a teacher got a tattoo on her wrist and wanted to know if it was a bad idea. peronally i would put it on the inside of your wrist so its easy to cover, cos on the top of your hand would be hard to cover, than the longer you work in the job you can show it more (as long as its not offensive). i have a big dragon on my lower leg and you just learn creative ways to cover it. i usually wear long pants to work ( which is the dress code of most workplaces anyway). lots of ppl who have succesful careers have tatts

some tattoo shops offer blacklight tattoos. they use special UV reactive ink. finding a place that offers it may be difficult, and the price will be a bit more, but you will have your tattoo and your corporate job! it's the best of both worlds.
you're probably not from southeast wisconsin, but my friend Stephanie provides blacklight tattooing, i'm sure she would love to answer any questions you may have.
