Does anyone else think male-bashing is harmful to women?

I mean stereotypes like "all men cheat" and "men don't feel affection, only lust" - do you think they encourage women to put up with lousy treatment on the assumption that all men are that way?

Male bashing is unfair to the good men and teaches the younger less experienced woman to expect this type of behavior from all men. You are right it is unhealthy to male bash!

No but I do think it is harmful to women in the sense that it makes them more cautious than necessary and that it makes them bitter.

My girlfriends all like to male bash and guess what I end up doing when I get home? Taking it out on my loving boyfriend.

I think it in some cases can be so severe to make women so cautious that they never have a successful relationship.


If you put up with lousy treatment that is your own inability to think for yourself and your own insecurity.

I think it can be. Some women will have a few bad relationships and decide that all men are that way. I don't pay attention to any bashing (male/female/what have you) since every person is different and just because one person behaves a certain way, doesn't mean everyone else will behave the same way.

I think that some women put up with alot of crap form guys mainly because they feel that these "bad boys" can provide for them, they like the idea of being with someone who is not afraid to act like an *** to get what they want. Its the old "Why do nice guys never win" thing. Theres millions of statements about it on the net. I personally think that ya it probably does damage to those women who fall into the wrong crowd and cant finda way out. But when a women sees what it is like to have someone who truely cares for her I dont think anything said could change what she will expect from that point on. I think that once a women ends up with someone who treats her like crap its what she becomes accustomed to, and as some people dont like change she feels secure in her relationship even if it is an abusive one.

These stereotypes are a way that a person chooses to perceive the world and do not represent what really exists, reality or truth. And yes, these are harmful because people act according to what they believe and these are generally negative beliefs that can deny a relationship of trust and true affection and love.

not only harmful to women and to the men that are good and don't cheat on them. No woman nor man shouldn't put up with a cheater, period. If you know up front this person is know to cheat, then your best bet is to leave this person alone. Sometime their lies might convince you other wise, if this the case then it would be smart on your behalf to take it slow with this person which will cause them to show their hand.

Women that say things like that probably grew up with a father that treated their mother like sh!t. They'll end up with he same...Sure there's plenty of men like that out there, but when I hear women say things like that, it reminds of the trailer park "creatures" on the Jerry Springer Show. Glad my wife isn't like that!

sometimes. i think that it also can probably hurt the relationship if a woman believes things like that. she may always suspect him of cheating and he may get tired of her always being suspicious.
on the other hand, talking bad about men can sometimes make a woman feel better, like after a breakup, it may feel good to talk bad about guys

In a way, yes. There's always that "Boys Will Be Boys" excuse. It's garbage. Treat them like adults who can make the decision to be right or wrong, because they can.
