I have heard the green on the race car and also the #13 but the best one I ever heard was "No peanuts in the garage or pits". This was started by Jr. Johnson. He stopped in his engine shop one day to check on the progress of a new motor set up and the guys were eating peanuts. That following weekend the motor let go and they DNFed. Jr. said it had to be the peanuts and therefore they were no longer allowed anywhere around his equipment and so the superstition was born.

When Dale Earnhardt won the Daytona 500 in 1998. A girl with cancer gave him a Penney to put in his car as a good luck charm. He stuck it on the dash. He won the race, but half way in the race the girl died. So that's how Earnhardt won that race.

NEVER set a winning trophy on the roof of your car...now I can't say I believe in bad luck or good luck but I have asked quite a few drivers and they all agree.
