Well, since I am the mom of a 14, 20 and 21 year old,
I think I can help... So you don't have much of a budget but you don't want your gift to scream cheesy or easy out ...

What you need to do is think about your mom as the individual she is ...

Do you know what kind of music she likes?
Yes? Then down load a small collection of her favorite songs.

Does she love to read?
A gift card of $20 will go a long way at Borders

Does she love a great movie?
A gift card to Block Buster (or who ever she rents from) and a coupon for a "Mom & Son movie night" would be so special!

If she has a hair or nail salon she likes,
ask them if they do gift certificates ...

Believe me ... for her, just the fact that you got her gift
and REALLY put in thought about what is special to her ...
that will mean everything...
God bless and Merry Christmas ... I hope this helps!

I am almost 50 and let me tell you this most of us gals at this age have what we want material wise so money is not a issue for a gift. If you have a picture of the two of you have it framed and make a card listing all the ways she is your number 1 how she makes you favorite dish how she does your laundry or makes the house into a home. How she always makes sure you are OK she will NEVER forget that present and it is priceless:-) good luck sweetie and Merry Christmas. PS I can already tell she has a wonderful son who would come on here tiring to figure out what to get her!

I don't know if there is a Mervyns store near you but they have a KILLER throw blanket there, it has on one side a soft suede leathery feel and on the other side is a warm lamb feeling material. And the print on the suede leather side is really, really, pretty. There's a bunch of different colors and patterns. My sister got our mom one, (she's 54) and it was under $20 after taxes and everything IT'S ON SALE : ) They also had cute pajama sets and robes for under $20. Nice stuff too, not crappy or cheap looking. Everything in that store is pretty much about 1/2 off. GREAT STUFF!

I'm 52 years old and I've asked my 15 year old daughter for a new pair of slippers, a gift card to Barnes and Nobles, a new tea pot, a sweater and a new set of gloves. I don't expect her to get all of these but this way she can choose something that I want and I still get to be sort of surprised. Ask her what she would like or what she needs. It's not complicated we mother's know how much our children can spend.

What does she like? For example, my mother wears the same earrings every day. they are 14k gold posts. You can pick them up at Walmart for $13. Find out the stuff that she's into right now. Does she read a lot? Get her a book. Does she like movies? Get her a subscription to Netflix (starter, not regular).

Do you know how to make a card on the computer yet?
This is actually a gift I have that I will never throw away.
My kids designed them and wrote what they wanted to say to me at Christmas time. I loved it.

If you'd like your mom to have a little something from you under the tree to unwrap, your gift has to come from your heart. First you start by thinking of your mom, the things she likes to do and maybe her favorite color then take it from there.
For some examples to get you started. Does she like to garden? There are always nice little gifts for flower gardens like a nice little pegged sign that says "Welcome to my garden".
Does she like music? What type? I like Neil Young CD-Heart of Gold, Get her an oldies but goodies CD if you think she'd like that.
Get her a coffe mug that says "Favorite Mom".
You can't get her that gift of love by walking around in the malls without thinking of her at home first and pretty much knowing what you're looking for before you hit the stores.

It just becomes much to confusing and you kind of forget the true meaning of Christmas by just looking at everything instead of that one specific thing...just for mom.

Have you tried the dollar stores? Honestly, some of them have things in there that are more than $1.00, to keep your costs down below $20.00 and still end up with what you'd like to get her.

If you give yourself at least 3 ideas written down on a peice of paper, you will stay much more focused on those items.

Say your ideas are:
1) A coffee mug
2) A small pinky ring
3) An apron that has a nice little saying that would relate to you and her.

This way while you are looking at those items, when you see it, you will know.....now this is mom..

Happy Holidays and I'm sure she will love annything you get her just keep it in your heart ~

Something thoughtful, like maybe you get a nice photo album or frame and put a family photo(s). Or a calendar (from Kinkos) that you make with your own pictures - that's always a parent pleaser. You can get those on-line too like at Ofoto, I just don't know if you'd get it by Dec 25 if it has to be shipped.

Hey! I'm 17 and my mom is 50 and I got her a gold bracelet. It's not real gold. It cost me $15 bucks and she loves things like that so yeah. See the type of jewelry she wears and get something like that. Like see if she wears silver necklaces, get a silver necklace with like a heart pendant or something. She'll like it because it'll look like the things she likes to wear.

Buy an album. Find a bunch of pictures of you and her, or you and her and the rest of the family, print it out... and put them into the album.

It's always nice for an older person to reflect back to the people that loved them and the memories they shared together.

A family frame and good grades.
Love and your help during the holidays is more than enough.
Show her you love her and help her with Christmas dinner.
Being there is more imortant than any gift you can get her.
