In a short message like this it is impossible to explain why the Bible does NOT condemn committed loving relationships between same sex individuals.
I believe that the Bible HAS not addressed the issue of committed loving homosexual relationships simply from the fact that anyone writing in that era DID NOT CONCEIVE of the idea of homosexual orientation from birth. (There is much literature on this issue - see Robin Scroggs, Jack Rogers, John Shelby Spong, Rev Jeff Miner & John Connoley, Mel White, John J. McNeill, and many others),
However, to try to be succinct, I am ruled by what Paul wrote in Romans: "That people HAVE ALREADY ABANDONED GOD, and have allowed themselves be ruled by lust including same sex activity. However, NOT having abandoned God, and wanting a LOVING committed relationship, Paul's understanding of the issue does NOT include me. In fact I will even go further.
We need to make our moral decisions by examining the relationships themselves. I believe that one of the greatest gifts God has given us is each other. For mutual support, help, love, etc. And the marriage union is one of the most uniquely supportive commitments that can be made by one person to another. I also want us to be able to have the same hope of intimacy and partnership as the next guy. But God made many of us gay. I can only believe that God then intended us to live this way. And if our relationship engenders true selfless love, if it brings me and my partner closer to Christian love, to Christ, if it makes us better Christians, if it is directed by the spirit of God working within us, then it is moral and good.
Many have for so long so distorted and even perverted the concept of true love in religion, that evil is sometimes construed as good, intolerance as virtue, and ignorance as acceptable dogma.
To the extent that a person -- or a Church -- fails to allow the gay individual to form stable loving relationships with each other, they fail to understand the very principles inherent in the Christian ethic -- notably the transcendence of love in our lives. Worse, to that extent they do not completely understand what love is.

Yes. In the Gospels, Christ was remarkably silent on the subject. I don't feel threatened in any way by gay marriage, and support rights for gays (and for everyone else). And I've met many other Christians who feel the same way. Just because some sects and sub-groupings of Christianity demonstrate an anti-gay bias doesn't mean that they all do. There are a growing number of Christian denominations that are openly gay friendly (and some have been that way for a long time).

Those who are pushing for marriage to be redefined to include the union of same sex couples are like the serpent in the Garden - saying "Did God REALLY say that it's wrong for a man to lay with another man as with a woman?"
Of course a Christian has to have a problem with that. It's calling God a liar, and leading people away from His truth and onto the road to hell. God loves all people and so do all Christians - why wouldn't we have a problem with a movement that leads some to hell?

Yes, you can be a true "Christian" and not care about gay marriage. Ask yourself does it affect my life in anyway? No, it doesn't affect anything in your life. And if you are a "true Christian" you will love your fellow brother and sister and spread the word of love and compassion, instead of hate and judgement. Who are you to judge anyone? Isn't that God's job?

Sure.
I don't care one way or the other.
But I am firmly opposed to state control over religious services. So I support gay marriage - not because I support homosexuality, but because I support liberty.

I think that is a side issue to distract us from the main task that the Lord has called us to, which is the salvation of souls. The person who is not saved is headed to hell regardless of his sexual preference.

I would hope so. What someone else does in their own bedroom does not affect you. Unless of course you're joining them, like Ted Haggard.
Have a little bit of tolerance. Your faith is not a mandate for anyone else. That's what's so beautiful about the U.S.A.

well your asking a christian to do the opposite of what is written
in the bible. thats not very christian then is it?
so as a christian you MUST care about whats going on
around you...I.E give a flip....anyone whom tells you otherwise
is not following that truth 100%...therefore a wayward christian
at best...

I'm a Christian and I keep my opinion to myself unless asked. It is Jesus who judges not me.
Freedom of choice free will stops me from judging
