Duke University is not in Chicago. The study involved chimpanzees, not monkeys. We didn't evolve from monkeys. Monkeys is not spelled with an "i." The study also was not about mental addition. Now that I've cleared up the mistakes:
The Kyoto University study was comparing the short-term memories of five-year-old chimpanzees with that of college-age humans.
The reason is that humans evolved other higher cognitive functions that took up the space that is used in the chimps' brains for short-term memory.

Monkey evolution is a choice but sexual orientation is not?
There is this theory that most inanimate objects are smarter than today's college student and they don't evolve, just decompose or rust.

Whoa! How do you know that a given monkey will not evolve into a human unless that has happened? The only monkey around here is the one who believes your drivel.

We are not descended from any currently existing primates. Modern evolutionary theory shows that we share a common ancestor with chimpanzees and (further back) with other primates, not that we evolved from them, or they from us.
