I'm a fair cook but a better baker, and I enjoy baking more-both the process and the end product!

I am a much better cook than baker. Baking requires more precision and I like to add a bit of this and a touch of that.

I am a better cook than baker. I would rather experiment with new flavors and tastes rather than have the exact ratios for the perfect chiffon cake in my head. (for some reason I have that one memorized) Bakers rely on more precise formulas to ensure a quality product. Baking is more science

I think it depends on the food itself.
It also depends on my mood.
I have noticed something that happens over & over .. which I think is amazing.
For example .. take a chocolate pie recipe .. the very same identical recipe .. and 6 cooks who will be cooking this same chocolate pie recipe. Someone in this group will make this pie soooooooo much better than anyone else.
I have noticed that some people can kinda put their personal mark on a food .. they just make it better than anyone else.
My sister makes an incredible chocolate pie .. the best I have ever eaten.
My Mother-in-law makes the best corn-bread of anyone.
My Mother could fry a chicken the best.
My best friend can fry the best meat.
My daughter can make the best spaghetti ever.
I know a guy who makes marvelous biscuits.
I have a cookie which no one can make like me.
I just find this interesting with cooks.

I think I do both well but enjoy baking more than cooking. Some of the answers compared baking to science, which I can agree with; it's more logical to me and I enjoy the steps. And you can still add your own touch to baking; you just gotta make sure if you change things it's not going to ruin the finished product- like if you're making bread. I don't think one would want to omit flour or add extra flour haha.

I am a terrible cook- I have problems making a grilled cheese sandwich. I'm a great baker- I can make pies, cookies, pastries, you name it. I love science,so baking makes me feel like I'm in my very own science lab with all the measuring.

I'm definitely a better cook. I like futzing around with recipes. I can't do that with baking, and there are so many variables and exact measurements and temps. Give me cooking any day. Baking right now is a disaster hobby, but I'm trying to learn.

Wow that's really a toss up. I really enjoy making cakes, pies and fun desserts, but cooking a really nice meal for family and friends is very satisfying. I'd have to say cook, if you pin me down to one.
And a side note to sakura haruno - rice krispy treats isn't baking... :)

I personally love to cook but hate to bake. I like to eat baked things, but not to bake them, for the same reasons people gave above.
