My father also use to have my Grandfathers 303 Riffle, a hand grenade (not sure which era) with the pin, or the detonator removed ! As kids we found this and to our Mothers shock use to play soldiers on the farm. Those were the days, jumping out of a barn window, landing 10 feet below to kill Germans or if you really wanted blood the Japs (usually your cousin or younger brothers)!

Question being does anyone else have authentic War equipment ?

I'm Australian and my fathers eldest son, so I was hoping to one day show case my Grandfathers equipment in a wall mounted display cabinet. The problem is because they outlawed fire arms in Australia I don't know if my father still has the 303 Rifle. Unfortunately the Army bomb squad collected the hand grenade a while ago. My father told me the 303 Riffle was actually used a lot earlier in the Boer War.

Are you English or one of the Commonwealth nations? A .303 caliber rifle would have to be one of the marks (versions) of the Short Magazine Lee Enfield (SMLE) rifles from WWII. American Rifles used .30-06, Germans used 7.92mm, Italians used 6.5mm, Japanese used 6.5 and 7.7mm, and the Soviets used 7.62 x 54mm rimmed.

English Webbing is 1937 pattern which remained in service until it was replaced by 1958 pattern. American webbing was a combination of model 1910 (pre WWI issue) and model 1936 at the beginning of WWII and model 1943 in the last year of the war.

It was not uncommon for some people to bring home live hand grenades from WWII. Be careful with it! It can still kill you.

My brother has our father stuff from WWI, WWII and Korean. What's left of it anyway... I gave the rest of it to a local museum.

Other than a few pieces of gear of my own, (poncho, canteen, web belt,etc....) I do have a German WW1 bayonet that was given me by my first wife's uncle. (yes she is German). And of course I have promised it to my eldest son.
