Hi there...a kitten this young truly needs veterinary care. It could have an upper respiratory infection (URI) which would require antibiotics. Conjunctivitis is another possibility and without treatment the kitten would become blind.

If you need financial assistance with veterinary bills, here's a list of organizations who can offer assistance: http://felinediabetes.com/vetbills

more often than not home remidies are more harm than good especailly when it comes to putting something in a poor kittens eye. you could really hurt her and it is always a bad idea to take medical advice from random people online. you are ignorant if you do not think that all creatures deserve proper medical attention. first of all a four week old kitten that is new to your home needs to go to the vet regardless of its health. you need to get her checked out so she doesnt infect your other pets if you have any and even if you dont have other pets a four week old kitten that you just found out of no where is going to have health problems more than likely. please be responsible. or if you insist on being negligent give the cat away.

Your kitten will probably just need eye drops to clear up the infection. The cost for the drops + vet visit will probably be around $40 depending on where you live.
If your kitten is sneezing and/or has a runny nose, she may have feline respiratory disease which, although common, can be fatal. I would suggest getting her to a vet or if you cannot afford her care, take her to a no-kill shelter so she can get all the medical care she needs.

You will not get a lot of reliable answers with that attitude. BRING YOUR CAT TO THE VET. There are many things it need to be a healthy kitten besides the eye medicine. If you have a child it need to go to the vet immediately. Cats can carry things that children and the elderly are esp at risk for contracting. Good luck!

first of all, thank you for rescuing this little kitten!!!!!
secondly, if you can, please please please take the kitten to the vet as soon as possible. there are antibiotics that can help the infection go away. if left untreated the kitten could end up blind (or worse).
our newest kitten was a rescue & was almost blind from eye infections, thankfully someone at least cared enough to bring her to a rescue shelter in late Oct. (who nursed her towards healing until we adopted her & she is still getting better 2 months later)
there are some non-profit orgs that might be able to help with vet bills & some vets have what's called "good samaritan" programs & you might be able to get the kitten seen & treated at low or no charge. also, the local SPCA might have a low-cost clinic you could take the kitten to to get treatment (& bring it home with you to heal & grow into a healthy loving kitty)
where you said it's a 4-wk old kitten, i hope you're able to bottle feed it (kitten formula sold at most pet stores)

You do need to take the kit to teh vet and this is why. Most feral kits are born with some type of bu or another -- worms, viruses, etc. The kit needs to be checked out for these buggers and treated. The problem with the eye is actually secondary. Of course, the vet will examine and treat that, too.

If the reason you don't want to go to the vet is because you can't afford it, one of the following organizations may help:

http://imom.org/fa/

http://www.aahahelpingpets.org

http://www.thepetfund.com

http://www.carecredit.com

http://www.help-a-pet.org

http://www.imom.org

http://www.fveap.org (for cats)

http://www.handicappedpets.com

http://www.uan.org

http://www.nysave.org

http://www.angels4animals.org/

Note: these generally organizations help only in emergency situations - not for people who can't or won't provide basic care - although I think they will help in this situation because you are attempting to help a stray, 4-week old kitten.

in case you have have been given no different respriratory virus warning signs, like runny noses, then they kittens might have a herpes virus of their eyes. Left untreated, it could reason severe injury, which includes scarring of the attention, or perhaps loss of a watch. If it does not strengthen in an afternoon or 2, gets worse, or spreads to a distinctive kitten you truthfully could get them in to the vet.

Nope,

You need to see the vet to find out what the problem is with the kittens eyes.

If it has a cold, it should be put on antibiotics.

It could have conjunctivitis, in which case it definately needs treatment or it could potentially go blind in its eyes and need them removed.

Take the cat to a vet. Some states have vet assistance for people that take in strays. Check with your local vets or animal shelter. But, please, take it to a vet.
