I'm very nervous because my parents don't support my decision. It is such a big decision and such a big change. Any thoughts?

The Air Force offers top notch training in many career fields, training that costs thousands of dollars but you get it for free. Also, you will qualify for the G.I. bill, worth thousands for college when you separate from the Air Force one day. Also, while on active duty the Air Force offers 100% tuition assiatance so you can go to college for free while serving. Money aside it is an honorable thing to do and while the beginning of your career will be hard (starting with basic training in San Antonio) it will ease up and become similar to a regular job.

I am sorry your parents don't support your decision. Maybe they just don't want their child to join the military out of genuine parental concern or maybe they don't believe in the merits of the current conflicts, in either case it is your decision and it is a decision that thousands of people make every year. You are joining the worlds only undefeated Air Force, be proud!

The Air Force is great way to go. You shouldn't be skeptical about anything. The work is very good and the benefits are beyond excellent. You get free college tuition while you are in and of course th GI Bill (don't let anyone talk you out of this)when you finish your enlistment. The way of life is so much better than the other services and it's hard to compare the costs of what you get (health insurance, housing costs, food allowance, 30 days paid vacation) in the military vs. the civilian world.
Don't be skeptical and stay away from the police, fire fighter and command post career fields if you want to go to school. They have hours that make it difficult.

You will need to be head strong to get through boot camp. Only you can really decide if your makeing the right choice. But look at it like this. You will get a lot of experiance not just in the job you choose in the AF but in life in general. You live fast when you live in the military you will experiance a great many things some good some well not so great but you will have people to support you and help you along the way. If you get into a good group there will be people to help you sucseed and be great at your job. There are also some very long lasting effects that the military has on people usualy like a good sence of responsibility and knowing to do the right thing even when nobody is watching and it is not traceable.

Let your parents know that the Air Force has the highest percentage of females among all the branches. One in five officers and airmen is a female.

But its your choice and your life and your decision. Of all the armed forces it is the one you will least likely be hurt in. I'm sorry your parents don't support your decision but many of us here do. Good luck and God bless and hopefully your parents will come around.
