Biologically what happens inside the body after ingestion of a stimulant laxative? How does it increase peristaltic activity? Thanks everybody in advance!!

Stimulant laxatives work by increasing the muscle contractions in the intestinal wall.That causes an increased peristaltic movement or the movements of the intestines which are responsible for moving waste along to the rectum for evacuation. .
