As I am the family genealogist I have 9 bibles handed to me by various family members with genealogical data contained therein. In older bibles you often find places to write in family vital statistics and that has been invaluable to me. The oldest bible I have is from the late 1700's and belonged to my 4x great grandmother.

No, no Bible, no book, nothing--with the exception of one small 3x5 "card" which reads...........
Thank you Lord for the dirty dishes
They have a story to tell.
While others may be hungry
We are eating well.
This was given to me by my paternal grandmother when I was a young wife and expecting my first child. Though it burned in a house fire many years ago, I do remember the verse.

I don't have it, but my mom has her grandfather's Bible, which was their family Bible. He was a Methodist preacher and it is an incredible piece of family history. I love looking through it and wondering what sermons he may have preached about each verse.

My mother has a Hanukkah menorah that her great-grandfather gave to her and our family uses it every year. I have a bible that my parents bought for me (it's metal and easy to carry around with me, like at school). Your story is very nice.

Bless your heart. Treasure it forever.
I have my grandmothers Bible. My It was given to me by my mothers brother after she had passed away. My mother was born in 1914 and her dad was in WWI. Her mother died of in the flu epidemic of that time before she was 2. My mother never knew either of her parents but somehow the Bible survived!
In one section of the Bible in my grandmothers writing was the date my mother was born.
Thanks for the nice question. Take care of what has been given to you. What a precious gift, you should be very proud.

I have this one that I bought when I first came to faith in Jesus Christ. It was $3.00 at a bargain book store, but it has been my "sword' and I thank God for it. I have notes written on almost every page, which makes it rather valuable to me...
