I used to work in an animal shelter, and the vet tech had a small paw print tattoo on her right inner wrist. Today, I bumped into a girl and noticed she had the same tattoo. Upon browsing on myspace, I noticed a graphic with a silhouette of a woman with the same tattoo on her wrist. What does it mean? Does it symbolize animal rescue or something?

I'm considering getting this tattoo but I'd like to know if it has a meaning.

Why is it that everyone feels the need to hunt down a universal meaning for something they see tattooed on someone???

Tattoos mean something different to everyone. The woman you worked with probably had it because of a love of animals... the other girl may have just had it done because she thought it was cute and it may have no meaning to her. You never know... tattoos mean what the owner chooses them to mean.

Paw Print Tattoo On Wrist

It's probably coincidental.
Wrist tattoos have become exceedingly popular recently, and pawprint tattoos are fairly popular as well.

To my knowledge, it doesn't have any sort of set meaning, and if you choose to get it, you can make up your own meaning for it.

I agree with the previous poster that it doesn't mean anything. Wrist tattoos are becoming more and more popular. I've see other vet techs with paw print tattoos in other places. I myself have matching paw print tattoos on the upper part of both of my legs to symbolize when my dog would sit on my lap and leave paw print marks on my skin. I keep thinking that when I graduate school for vet tech I will get this neat paw print design I saw on somebody else, they weren't completely filled in and were blue and pink.

Maybe it's coincidence. Maybe there is a group somewhere that uses it, I don't know which one though. Perhaps you can locate the vet tech and ask her? Or ask the myspace person.

u could always ask her the next time u see her i'm sure she wouldn't mind. maybe its in memory of a pet, or she just loves animals, could also symbolize a rescue. been thinking of getting one myself in memory of my kitten but not on my wrist.

wow. I bet it does, but I've never seen it.

It could just be popular too. I know this isn't what you wanted to read, but I think it would be awesome and cute!
