That's the good thing about dogs; while it certainly isn't fool proof, they tend to throw up easily if something wrong is ingested.

For the future, as a small dog, providing that was truly dark chocolate (not Hershey's Special (=30% choc)) like Sam's Belgian chocolate (70%), it needs to come out before it can be digested. One can induce vomiting. Failing that, a vet visit and stomach pump are in order.

For such a small dog this is a significant amount of chocolate. Do you think he threw up most of it? Do you know for sure how much was there to begin with? I would call a vet if you have any doubt that he hasn't thrown up all the chocolate he ate. Dark chocolate has much more of the harmful chemical for dogs than milk chocolate, and this is a small animal. Hope all is well. If you can't get to a vet, encourage the vomiting and/or give some charcoal to absorb the chemical.

Get to the vet NOW, even if you need to use an emergancy vet service. We had a small chihuahua mix that was 10 pounds and ate one piece of 70% cocoa dark chocolate and the vet said that was enough to be lethal. He was fine, but needed to be fed charcoal with a tube and meds to slow his heartrate down. If you leave it alone a dog this small's heart may beat irregularly, it can go into seizures, and can die.

That sounds like a good bit of dark choc. for a small dog. Call your vet and he will tell you what to do. He may tell you the systems of poisoning to watch for or he may tell you to bring him in. So call your vet and see what he has to say. My 4 lb toy poodle mix one time ate a half of Easter bunny that my son left laying around and he was fine, but i called my vet and i was told what to watch for.

Chocolate is bad for any kind of pets to eat. Chocolate contains an ingredient called "Theo bromine" a stimulant found in cocoa beans.
My suggestions is to take him to the nearest emergency vet clinic. Please do not hesitate if you want to save him.
Go right now!
