The advantages are that you can do a minimally invasive procedure with greater dexterity than laparoscopic procedures. You can also perform these remotely. Doctors in new York once performed a surgery on a patient in France. (It cost them $1million for the bandwidth alone)
The disadvantage is that you can't feel how much pressure you are putting on the tissues like you can when you are actually holding the tools. The types of surgeries you can do is also currently limited.

The advantages of robotic surgery are fewer potential complications, less scarring, and faster recovery after surgery. However, the disadvantage of robotic surgery is the lack of tactile feedback. However, the lack of haptic feedback in the current robotic surgical systems is an issue that to date has not been solved.

Sometimes plastic surgery is a good thing but the disadvantages of that is a lot of things can go wrong that wasn't anticipated and thus things can go terribly wrong so fast. If you can stand the pain and get the right surgen to do the surgery that has a great reputation I say go for it but do your homework before the time.

ADVANTAGES:
>>A significant decrease in the blood loss & other potential complications which is usually encountered in surgery.
>>Reducing the operative time which relieved the patient of all the risks accompanying prolonged stay under anesthesia.
>>A relatively reduced post-operative hospitalization stay.
>>Ability of the patient to resume his normal life in a period of only 24 to 48 hours after undergoing Robotic Surgery.
>>Much better surgical efficacy which decreased the probability of surgical complications.
>>Much lower risks of infection and healthier surgical outcomes.
>>Ability to perform complicated surgeries with ease and with better results.
>>More confidence & comfort to the surgeon in his surgical practice.
>>Addition of more surgical operations that were not considered doable with older surgical techniques.

DISADVANTAGES:
>> Robotic surgery is a new technology and its uses and efficacy have not yet been well established.
>>It is costly and affordability would be limited.
>>The size of the systems have relatively large footprints and relatively cumbersome robotic arms.Use in smaller patients will be be difficult.
>>The size could also alter the direct access to the patient during surgery.
