bake her a cake, on her birthday, that says "will you marry me?" and put a ring on top of it...

Try to personalize it. Maybe some people are fine with the ring hiding in their desert at a restaurant but something more creative is nice. My husband proposed to me on our 5 year anniversary, taking me to a beach where no one else was around at shortly before midnight. Then, when it turned midnight and was officially our anniversary, he proposed. It was really sweet and the day was meaninful. If you don't have a meaningful day in mind, maybe use a meaningful place to you? Like the first place you kissed? Your first date? Something special like that and go there and depending come up with something special and unique for that location. Is she someone that would want it to be public or private? Think of things like that. And most of all, tell her everything you love about her, take the time to come up with the right words to say, and make her feel amazingly special. Good luck!!!

It all kind of depends on your girls personality. Does she like big gestures of affection? If so, go the billboard route. Old school romance? Get down on one knee. Creativity? Make a cake, or create a crossword puzzle (Jon Stewart did that, I heard), make something for her, like a piece of art, etc. If you want to be cute you can put the message in a fortune cookie.

Some people like very quiet, personal proposals. Some cute ones I heard of (that are romantic to me at least) are to put the ring on her finger (provided that you have it) and propose when she wakes up (although it'll be awkward if she refuses).

No one can answer this but you. What does she like? What does she find romantic? What are special places or events for her or for you as a couple? Does she like things sweet and romantic, funny, laid back, or serious?

As long as you propose from the heart and think about what she would like, it won't matter whether you've rented a billboard or simply gotten on one knee in your kitchen. What will matter is that you love her and you want to marry her. That's all.

Good luck!

I'm very old school, so getting down on one knee with a ring in one hand and all the love in your heart. A nice unexpected evening with just the two of us and a romantic dinner is enough for me.

My cousin got engaged last year she said he went to her job for lunch. He told her to reach in the glove department and there was the ring. She said he was like I already called your dad to get his approval now baby it's up to you here's the ring so do you want to marry me.

Now she's like how I suppose to tell people about my not so romantic proposal. But that's just him I don't think he could have been romantic if he tried. So it depends on the person what could be romantic to me may not be to her.

Trey to surprise her. Go for a walk to look at Christmas lights, and propose in the middle of the light display.

i always thought it would be neat to have a guy buy some billboard space for a day or two, asking me to marry him.

or on a hike on the top of a scenic view.

just do something special, make it unexpected (not on a vacation, birthday, vday, christmas, new years, etc). and speak from your heart.
