The reason I'm asking is, how can you be sure? Do you claim omniscience?

I think there are many reasons, many factors that lead one person down a path of belief or unbelief. At one point or other, a believer chooses to believe, while a non-believer sometimes has not that choice. Outside of religion, religion seems intimidating to non-practitioners. The world, as well, is full of pit-falls and traps, to which even believers can succumb. When non-believers make note of that, their position is affirmed. While from a religious veiwpoint, the same conclusion is drawn, diametrically opposed.

I think that in this world, we are allowed to make mistakes, however, to be warned, irreverence is a path that no one ought to tread. It is a path of self-destruction. (And this is for irreverence, not atheism, which is usually simple indifference.)

It is all to do with the burden of proof which is on whoever makes an existence claim, therefore those who claim that there was a creator are expected to provide proof for that creator.

Since they can't, reasonable people assume that the claimed entity (creator) does not exist and thus you get atheism as the only reasonable position to hold with the evidence that is currently attainable.

I do not believe in the god of the bible. I do not believe in the god of the Church's of today. There may be a force within the universe - maybe - but I doubt if it would be considered a god, and I doubt that it would need me to be a slave to its verbal dictates. I accept the fact that I must accept the natural laws of this planet, but the laws of nature don't spew out the ten commandments so that I have morals.

Our universe is non religious, it doesn't care about the foolishness that religions claim. In this day and age the concept is so ancient that it is worthy of nothing more than being a myth, created thousands of years ago by people that were ignorant of this planet and the universe it dwells in.

Logic. It has nothing to do with a rebellion.

I'm Buddhist, and quite frankly, if God did exist, so be it, I hold no grudge.

I'm not sitting there yelling at God, telling him to piss off, I just don't believe it because there too many logical flaws in the argument. Not saying Atheism is correct, either, as it has failure in it's logic.

It's hard to effectively argue 1 side of a paradox, which is why I choose the middle path.

Atheism is based on reason because, I assume, unlike most religious people, atheists such as myself spent/spend a lot time of thinking about, researching and questioning their beliefs.

Mainly just an infantile form of rebellion against any form of authority, whether it's God or man. Every atheist I have ever known despised authority of any kind, and this was usually accompanied by an over-bearing sense of self-righteousness and of being "persecuted".

it not based on reason as if it were based on reason they should not believe in energy or air. they should not believe in Love or have any feelings. yet they do. Its a rebellion and atheism has existed since God existed. People just think its a new thing. its not.

Atheism is rebellion against God. It is definitely the wrong way to go because you can not prove God is not real without first acknowledging he does exist and then try to prove his falsity, which you can not.

It's the former. You know, people are BORN Atheists, and before anyone cared what "created" us, or how we got here, everyone was an Atheist.

How can you be sure that God DOES exist? It goes both ways.

Atheists are those claiming themselves to be wise. Psalms 2 says God laughs at them and puts them in ridicule.
