Okay, so religious 'delusion' or 'obsession' is noted in cases of OCD, severe psychotic episodes, schizophrenia and manic depression. But where is the line drawn between religious devotion and mental illness?

I am a schizophrenia paranoid raised a Christian. Since having hallucinations and forming beliefs (delusions, which are the natural explanations any one comes up with to rationalize hallucinations etc.)) about those hallucinations (voices which seem as real to me as my own thought voice but definitely aren't that voice). I have come to the conclusion that the writers of the Bible were ancient schizophrenics who hallucinated and came up with explanations for those hallucinations which they wrote about. These writings came to be accepted as Holy but may be delusions. So, to me, there is no real line between mental illness and religious belief.

Good luck with your religion and mental "illness", good mental health, peace and Love!

I don't know but I have problems following my beliefs. I'm bi polar and when I do what I feel is on my heart. People put me in the hospital. What I mean by that is the closer I feel to god the more I read my bible. The better I try to be. My family has always freaked out and thrown me in a hospital. I was not a harm to anyone or to myself. It happened so many times. Now I don't know what to think. I can't grow with god the way I use to cause I a scared of it happening again.
