There are too many unknowns in the history of international relations involving Cuba and the United States, so that we can only speculate on this question. For example, can you find an actual written document on what many refer to as the Kennedy-Kruzchev Accord, supposedly agreed to at the time of the Cuban Missile Crisis? We just do not have enough information on behind-the-scenes details. The insane policy, however, is not refusing to do business with Cuba; the insane policy is doing business with China. Of course, people tend to ignore the fact that both nations' governments are world-class abusers of human rights, with whom freedom-loving peoples should have no association. You should do some serious research into the facts about cuba before asking the United States to be a business partner with the terrorist regime.

don't blame it on Bush. He knows what he's doing, though most people don't think so because of popular opinion and unconscious discrimination. I'm not saying I like Bush. I don't. But do you really think the government is against countries because they're not democratic? No way. They're interested in money, oil, land, etc. They didn't go to war to find the so-called weapons of mass destruction. They always use the media to mislead people and get them to do what they want, rather than doing what's best for us--which is what the American government's supposed to do. They just don't seem to care anymore.. even if half our men die they won't give a ****. You really think we're a free country? They have so much control over us. In fact, so many people know they have the right to vote but they just don't. Either they're lazy or just don't seem to care. They don't know how much one little vote can affect the results. This country's going down. The world is, too. It's almost over, I guess. Prepare for the worst.
Sure, you may say Bush is an idiot. He's not that intelligent, but he does know what he's doing. He's just going with his plan, not ours. Those of you who call Bush an idiot are just ignorant people who doesn't know anything more about him. Learn your stuff, and look at everything from all perspectives. You'll see the world so differently you'll finally be living the wonders of life.
Also, Cuba's often a threat to us. Especially after the missile crisis, we've kept an eye on them, and will never let go I guess.
btw, Bush isn't so bad. people say he is just because he's president in their lifetime. Look back and you'll see that many other presidents were much much worse. We don't think so because we never really been through their tortures and struggles. Of course, America loves to play the blame game. What can I say, the common, unknowledgeable fools will never see the world clearly. Even if they're very intelligent. It doesn't matter.

Remember that Cuba is a strategic point in the Caribbean and is near Florida. Cuba is a rich potential and is the only country that the states couldn't invade successfully, (read the story of Bahia Cochinos). Bush thinks that when Fidel Castro dies he can "rescue" the country from the tyrannize and make money from the island, (tourism, rich mineral resources, sugar, coffee, and others). Remember that everything is about money.

Erhm...Bush did not initiate the embargo against Cuba. It has been in place since the 1960s.

I do not understand why Cuba = evil, but China = fine 'n' dandy. I am interested in what Americans have to say in this thread.
Probably it's something to do with Cuba's alignment with the big bad Red wolf, the Soviet Empire. Newsflash to the USA: there is no longer a Soviet Empire...

China has a very large potential of overtaking America as being the world power, as for Cuba, not so much. If China were to get mad at us and stop trade with America, the U.S. economy will take a big hit.

because china has a billion people there.
you have to help a nation like that so that the world is more balanced in the future.
castro is holding back cuba...has been for 40 plus years... they have been a papercut on the eardrum of humanity. and they really have no social consequence to the world as a whole... no major exports...so in the end... it would be like worrying about jamaican world policies.....

The main thing about China (I think) is that it has adapted economic practices more in-line with capitalism then communism. Since we (USA) mainly interact with them economically, their communism does not bother us much.
Cuba, however, has had the embargo on it since forever and a day, so Americans are not as familiar with it's products as China, and are thus not as much concerned over Cuban Communism. (The possible exception to this would be Cuban Style Cigars, but even those are fading away over time)
