if i am keep a written journal at work do they have the right to read it what if the journal is going to be used in a law suite without them knowing

Maybe you should clarify your question a little- I think what you're saying is that you've kept this journal at work, and now you want to use it in a lawsuit against your employers, without their having read it.

If the journal is your pen and paper and you don't work under some agreement such as a contract giving away all of your intellectual property rights (like writings and technological developments), then I would think that they couldn't make you let them read it. However, if you're going to try to use it as evidence in court, I think the law of disclosure entitles them to see it. But then, I'm not a lawyer...

Yes. Anything you do at work is their property.
