hello,
In the summer, I underwent the cabbage soup diet, and I started walking and jogging on a daily basis, and I lost 8 pounds and kept it. When school started, my exercise was less rigorous, and I did not exercise for 1 month because of my knee. My weight was 142, then it went back to 145. I then, for 2 months. I exercised frequently for 2 months, but without any diet; did not abuse junk food , though I had it very occasionally. I kept eating chocolate , especially lately. I found today I am 1 pound more! I am very upset with my body and self,,,So should I starve myself to lose weight? Why I am adding pounds, though I was exerciing daily lately?????? I am very upset.I want to do the soup again, but I am afraid I won't lose weight.

it takes a while for it to show...maybe youve gained muscle?
also another possibility, the key to losing weight is a combination of healthy diet(not necessarily being on a diet) and exercise. (and your 64 oz of water a day.......)
watch your portion sizes and caloric intake, and just exercise a few times a week, and there should be no need to put yourself on a soup diet.
Maybe you're bloated and/or eating too much sodium?

The best way to lose weight is to do regular exercise, no less then 1/2 hr per day and to eat a healthy well rounded diet. You could try eating 6 small meals a day, alot of people have had success doing that. Just do some more research on healthy eating or go and see a nutrionist. And drink plenty of water. Starving yourself well just make you put on more weight as your body taps into its reserves and turns it all into sugar which in turn changes into fat. And stay away from those silly so called diets.

Boosting your metabolism and exercising are the key components. You need to eat 5 small meals a day...to boost your metabolism. Try healthy snacks between meals and cardio at least three times a week. When you starve yourself...or doing fad diets...there are no long term results...just short term. Your body will store anything you eat because if you starve yourself...it will hang on to what little food you digest.

Most people lose water weight when they diet. Many people will gain that back through normal activity. If you have started exercising, you may be building lean muscle. The muscle will weigh more than the fat it is replacing. I better way to monitor your results is to measure yourself. Inches will dictate if your plan is working or not.

Don't starve yourself. Believe it or not that will only make you fatter in the long run. Don't buy into those fad diets either. Eat balanced meals and increase your exercise. The more you move, the more fat you'll burn. Also, I would pay more attention to your mirror and the way your clothes fit than to your scales.

your muscle glycogen stores were depleted from the cabbage soup diet. basically that's it's all it does from restricting both the total calories and carbs, that diet does not result in fat loss it's a waste of time

the body stores excess blood sugar in 2 places the liver and in skeletal muscle (majority stored here). when excess blood sugar (glucose) is stored in skeletal muscle it is converted to glycogen. for every molecule of glycogen stored comes 3-4 molecules of water, the body needs water to metabolize glycogen efficiently.

this is a perfect example of why it is important to track the body fat % and not just the scale weight. when you see flucations on the scale you can identify where the gains/losses are occurring and those ever fluctuating numbers on the scale become meaningless

Do not starve yourself, you actually slow down your metabolism...start by eating 6 small meals a day to boost your metabolism. Trust me, I've been there and this works. For one thing, chocolate adds alot of pounds, it is filled with sugar. Drink lot's of water, cut out the heavy starchy foods, eat salads, with low-fat dressing, lean proteins, stay away from white breads, potato's, chips, popcorn. Stick to fruits and veggies, it takes much discipline to stick with this....I feel for you.....
