There was a puddle of something clear slicker than water. There were witness in the store and they wrote statements.My injuries were sprain ankle and lower contusions I had crutches and a splint I couldnt comfortably stand for 6 weeks. Iam own a modeling agency and is also a photographer and make-up artist. Prior to my injury I had contarcts with companies in which I had to breech because I couldnt fufill my duties in my profession you have to stand for long periods and walk alot. The insurance company doesnt want to pay me for the work I lost.at first i sent them a letter from one of the contractors they said no they werent going 2 pay because the # was his cell phone. my hospital bills was first 1013.00 now i recieved a bill 4, 2230.00 they said they are only going 2 give me 2500 so I sent them staments and contracts and my cash flow statment 4 the year they stil said no now they arent returning my call. Is this normal? what can I do I didnt want to hire a lawyer.What can I do?

Yes, this is normal. You HAVE to hire a lawyer. That $2500 is the policy limit, for medical payments - a no-fault coverage.

If you want anything EXCEPT medical payments, or if you want more than the policy limit, you have to hire a lawyer and sue them in court, and prove that they are at fault for your accident. That means, they KNEW the water was there, and didn't do anything about it.

Just the fact that you fell on their property, does NOT make them automatically at fault. It's not like car insurance, where they rush to settle a claim. Grocery stores have a TON of slip and fall claims, and MOST of the time, they're not responsible - another customer broke a jar of something, or someone just got clumsy.

Well first thing is don't cash any checks they send you!!!! If you do, it will be viewed as full payment! Yes get a Lawyer!!
