I only get about 10 or so HD channels. Is it really worth it to upgrade and get a separate HD package? I would want to keep channels like ESPNNEWS bc I watch that every morning before work. So does it make sense to get a regualr HD package without eliminating the current channels I like that arent in HD? Like MSG, Lifetime, USA

With their HD packages, you get what you pay for. If you're paying for a package that includes the regular feed of ESPNNEWS, then you'd get the HD feed of it automatically if it exists. Likewise for premium channels: if you pay for HBO then you'll get the HBOHD at no extra cost.

Your basic HD channels (like your locals) would always be available. Just make sure you don't downgrade your basic service (basic and HD are separate fees, so they're individually changeable) and you'll keep the channels you're wanting.

You will need to get an HDMI cable to see 1080P HD. As long as you have the HD package paired with the local channels package you will be good, no need for extra equipment. You will want to connect your optical audio cable to your TV if it has one, if not check the cable box for one.

I think HD packages are on TOP of existing SD channels.
