Ok, outside my CATHOLIC church the baby jesus is already in the manger, I was brought up catholic and went to Catechism for 12 years, we were always told the baby should not be there till Dec 25th. I called a priest and he told me it is for decoration, since when did the meaning of christs birth turn into a decoration in front of a catholic church? It is not only a decoration but it represents why we celebrate Christmas, correct?

You have a good argument there, but no one knows when He was born, some say April, some say early summer.. so no one knows. Also if you notice in the nativity set, there are the 3 wisemen, and Jesus was born when the 3 wisemen came to see him.

People have chosen over the years to celebrate the birthday of Jesus on December 25th, Christmas Day, however he was born earlier in the year around the first of October. The reason He is displayed in nativity sets is because He was born in a stable with a manger of hay for His bed and this is where the three wise men who traveled from far away found Him by following the star in the East. Maybe this information will help you understand it more.

We celebrate Christmas Mass in honor of Christ's birth on December 25th, but he wasn't born then. In the Catholic church the 4 weeks prior to Christmas are "Advent" during which we prepare for Christmas and honor Christ, so it's natural to put up nativities ahead of time to remind ourselves of our savior and his humble beginnings.

He was actually born late September/early October during the Feast of Tabernacles (the celebration of the fact that God chose to dwel among his people) if you calculate the date of his birth based on the information in the bible.

Some people wait to put him in. The rest are too lazy. In my house, even the three kings are across the room until January when they arrive.

Nobody knows when he was born...

Also, there was no snow, ice, pine trees, Santa or many of the other trappings...

Christmas is based on an ancient Roman festival of Saturnalia.....it is pagan.
