i'm looking for a part-time job, preferably for a retailer. i would only want to work on the weekend and (possibly) in the afternoon on weekdays. i'm pretty small, so a really heavy job is out of the question, but i have good verbal and social skills. i also don't have any prior job experience. any thoughts?

Chuck e Cheese as a b-day party host, or a birthday party host anywhere, b-day parties are usually on the weekend, and you can make awesome money in tips! I did this in high school and it worked out great!

Seasonal retail this time of year, although you may be too late.
Fast food restaurants, but you're a bit young.

Consider volunteering to help someone in exchange for a reference, it adds something to your resume, and the a letter of reference is far better than nothing.

Where to volunteer - churches, animal shelters, non-profits doing fund drives (i.e. PBS stations), homeless shelters, even political campaigns.

Once you have that, getting a job over the summer gets a little easier. Since you;re 15, there are restrictions on how many hours you can work while going to school in most states, so summer jobs may be easier to get.

My first job was at a summer camp for kids 5-12. I know there are programs after school as well for kids in that age range, and all you have to do is keep them in check and watch movies with them. It's a lot of fun actually, I miss it a lot. You should check with your Parks and Recreation center in your town and see if they have similar jobs available.

A dry cleaner may be looking. I knew a woman who worked in one for 7 years and she started at 15.
