I know it's very bad when people misjudge us, and using their presumption, doesn't want to hear our explanation.
It happens to me also.
Try to be closer to that people, let them see the real you, not by explanation in words, but by your action. give proof that they judge you wrong.
the last, after you do your best to convince them but useless, you should remember that stubborn person exists.
we may want to make friend and be kind to everyone, but in fact, we not always get what we want.
Just let them go with their stubborness, you can find other friend that will see you fairly

About all you can do is to find someone considered reliable who will state that you could not have done what they said or that those spreading the rumors could not have witnessed what they claim.
