I don't think that it is demonic. However, I think that it is an instrument of Satan that several denominations insist that you MUST speak in tongues or you have not been filled with the holy Spirit. Scripture strongly states that all have different gifts. I actually went through a very difficult time in my spiritual growth about 7 years ago. Someone was trying to convince me that I was not saved because I didn't have the gift of tongues. Hogwash!

I do my praying in privacy and it has never taken the course of "tongues." There have been times when I have heard others speak in this manner and have found it confusing when it is done in public as it tends to call attention to and glorify the speaker. I will not say that the act is demonic, but I do believe that Satan is the author of the resulting confusion when practiced in public as opposed to in private.

I don't think it's demonic, just a self-induced act that excites. The real gift of tongues as described in the bible had a purpose. It was used to communicate the gospel of Christ to those who spoke different languages. What is happening today in Pentecostal churches does not serve this purpose.

Speaking in tongues is the evidence of the filling of God's Holy Spirit.

"So, how many Christians on here believe that if a Christian prays in the Spirit (tongues) that it is demonic?"
Christians don't speak in "tongues".
Latin is about the "tonguey-est" you'll get, which is tradition.
So, which planet did you just arrive from?

2, oh i did not even look at the second part. but i dont think they are demon posessed or that it is demonic. i say i dont understand it because i have been around alot of true christians who never recieved such a gift. but i have seen the spirtit manifest in many ways and in many people. none of which included this. but i must say that i am not qualified to answer that question, as i have never witnessed it myself.
