Not sure why I would ever have to, but I'm sure I would

The 'freezing to death' scenario seems the most likely, since it's nearly happened to me.
But yes, I would burn a bible (or the texts of MY faith, if that's what your getting at) to save a life. It's just ink and paper. I can get a new copy.
Anyone who would rather see their loved ones burn than a replaceable copy of their holy book is inhuman, and obviously worships the book instead of their god.
Mind you, I wouldn't burn a bible in any non-life-or-death case. I have too much respect for other people to do that.

A Bible is a material object, and unless it's a family heirloom with sentimental value it's trivially replaced. Short of a consecrated Torah scroll (and even then, lives are still more important than symbols), I'd burn it and buy a new one after the crisis was over. Unless it was full of postits for some sort of research project (a paper or a sermon or some such), I probably wouldn't even shed a tear over it.

What? You think burning a bible would be denying the faith? You think a bunch of printed pages is more important than saving someone's life? The bible is wonderful, it is awesome, it is God's word. But a book is a book.
Christians do not worship a book! They worship the true and living God!
god bless

Yes. The sanctity of life overrides a possession. Another bible can be acquired later. We carry the message in our heart. A bible is inspired scripture but not worthy of worship. That honor belongs to God alone. It is my *opinion* to place such extreme devotion to a book would be idolatry.

Yes. A Bible that was blessed and in deteriorating condition should be burned in respect, not thrown into the garbage, or allowed to be insulted.
I do not worship the ink on a page, but the message of Jesus Christ contained within the Word.
I would never deny Jesus Christ, however.

If I needed to use a Bible to burn to keep warm and that's all I had then I would use a Bible. It's no big deal. It is the message the Bible contains that is divine, not the pages themselves.

wow that's a really tough one
if i did burn the bible that is a sin, but if i didn't, it would pretty much be murder, which is also a sin.
uhhhhh if i absolutely had to, probably. but i would go out and get another afterward
and to all who said when would something like that ever happen: people are killed for their religion all the time (especially Christan's in other countries) the first thing i thought of when reading this is the Holocaust. if they were Christians and had bibles, they probably would have been killed too

I have found it both practical and morally justifiable to burn and inhale parts of the bible when I have run out of rolling papers and needed to make a doobie

I'm an atheist, BUT I do not believe in burning books, no matter what it is. Just because I don't agree with the ideas in the book, doesn't mean I would burn it. I will die before I burn ANY book.
If I was freezing, then I go and put on a sweatshirt, or put on another jacket or something. If they threatened to put me in a gas chamber, then let the gas pour in.

Why would yopu have to burn a bible? Maybe to keep warm in freezing weather? If it was unavoidable, what's the problem with doing that........you can get another one.
