I graduated from college way back in May. I've been applying and doing what I can to get jobs in all sorts of locations and I'm getting nowhere. Right now I'm earning money by working at a movie theater and living with my parents. I'm still trying to get somewhere and I have plenty of qualifications and skills, but my skills just aren't needed anywhere. I feel like my life is going nowhere and everyday I just get more and more depressed. What do I do?

Also, I'm seeing a therapist about this, and I'm looking for a job in communications or the media.

As for your career, find something you are passionate about and don't worry about the money because the money will come. People who succeed in their career use their natural talents, things they have a passion about, to do their best because it's something they love. When you love something, it ceases to be a job.

Also, you need to understand where you start is not where you end up and where you end up is more important than where you started. On average, people will switch jobs 7 times during their careers -- some more, some less. So long as you are moving toward where you want to end up, you are doing fine. Chances are you will work for 30 to 40 years, so you want to find jobs that feel less like forced labor and more fun.

You might want to volunteer in areas that you are passionate about and speak with people on how they got their start or the secrets of their success and learn to network. 90% of jobs, on average, are found through networking.

Good luck on starting your adventure.

I have many options you should take into consideration..

1) get someone to look at your resume, it's vital in the job searching side of things. Getting other's perspective helps

2) Some cities have local YMCA's that provide employment help free of charge, (including free photocopyin of resumes and coaching)

3) The easiest way is to look sharp, even if you think you are overdressing, you prolly look great and anyone would hire you

4) Keep on trying, even possible email or call the place ahead of time to see what the position entitles.

5) No matter what, someone will take notice of your skills, really play them up on cover letters!!! and experience in the field you are working in helps big time!

Let me know how you make out

and by the way therapist are only temporary so don't fret, i helped out my friend, so hopefullly my answer will help you.

Good luck and merry christmas

p.s. before you know it, when you least expect, you'll land the job

In all honesty, you may have to move away to get a position in your field if there are no current jobs where you are, get online at a site like Monster jobs, i don't know if they still have it but there is some like it and look for your field and put in some online resume's and things like that. But if you are not willing to move then just give it time, somthing will come along when you least expect it. Good Luck.

Been there, done that. Look outside your area of expertise. Take any job, just until you find what you're looking for. Go back to school, pursue a different career option if you still can't find anything Look outside of your area. Good luck!

it's tough, and you have to keep your spirits up.

I would suggest either volunteering or, if possible, interning in an area you would like to work; it would be valuable on your resume, may lead to some networking availability with other companies, or even a job offer where you are volunteering.

good luck.
