Because they are mean. When they strongly disagree with a question or answer a thumbs down is just not enough. They are uncivilized.

These forums are intended to be openly accessed by all, including minors. Yahoo allows you to use them out of their generousity, and if you can't follow their guidelines for conduct, then you can easily find a forum that is more suitable for what you feel that you have to post.

So, if people report you, you probably need to find somewhere other than Yahoo!Answers to post your messages. Reporters are doing you a favor.

Honestly, I see these people in their profiles talking about how this is their 5th account because they've been banned for inapproprate material. Why don't they get a clue? Their attitude is always (and I mean always) that their suspension is somehow someone else's fault - like it wasn't a result of their own actions (their own inappropriate postings). What does it take for these kinds of people to wake up and realize, they are not welcome here?

Because they break the rules and make the place a bad place to be. Wouldn't you report someone who is blatantly racist? The whole "you don't have to read it, just ignore it" thing is LAZY and stupid, Yahoo! Answers is a place to get answers, not offend other people and break the rules. People who blatantly ignore the guidelines an are out just to offend and insult people deserve to be reported.

They feel the need to report to the mommy and daddy answers violation police because they have exhausted their logic, or lack there of. Statistics and studies have to be made, pending those results, I believe there would be a direct correlation between people who report and people who ask the stupidest questions.

To get even, I guess. Many so-called violations are really non-violations. A strong/negative opinion of someone or something is not an insult.

If their questions or answer violates the community guidelines.
I think it's our duty to report it.

For cussing. There many younger people here and they or any of us should not have to be subjected to cussing. Sorry if people don't like that but it is the rule.

usually it is simply because the person disagrees with their beliefs. on the rare occasion people are reported for things that ACTUALLY DO violate regulations, but like i said, rarely.
