Satan and his hoard of evil demons seek to control the minds of people in this world and influence them to do evil and either deny God or join false religious systems.
Ephesians 6:12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
Ephesians 2:1 As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, 2 in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. 3 All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our sinful nature and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature objects of wrath.
2 Corinthians 4:3 And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. 4 The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.

Jesus never doubted that Satan is the ruler of this world. In some miraculous way, Satan once showed Jesus “all the kingdoms of the world and their glory.” Satan then promised Jesus: “All these things I will give you if you fall down and do an act of worship to me.” (Matthew 4:8, 9) Think about this. Would that offer have been a temptation to Jesus if Satan was not the ruler of these kingdoms? Jesus did not deny that all these worldly governments were Satan’s. Surely, Jesus would have done that if Satan was not the power behind them.
Jehovah is the Almighty God, the Creator of the marvelous universe. (Revelation 4:11) Yet, nowhere does the Bible say that either Jehovah God or Jesus Christ is ruler of this world. In fact, Jesus specifically referred to Satan as “the ruler of this world.” (John 12:31) The Bible even refers to Satan the Devil as “the god of this system of things.” (2 Corinthians 4:3, 4) Regarding this opposer, or Satan, the Christian apostle John wrote: “The whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one.”
The answer to this question has to do with what happened in the garden of Eden. Early in human history, a spirit creature who had become selfish and haughty introduced a plan to become a world ruler. As a result of his scheming, he did become “the ruler of this world,” indeed a very oppressive one. He became known as Satan the Devil, the arch-opposer of both God and man. His selfish plot to establish a rule rivaling Jehovah’s kindly rulership was exposed shortly after Eve was created, bad rule had its start when Adam chose the road of independence from God’s rule, totally rejecting His kindness. (Genesis 3:1-6) Instead of truly ruling themselves, Adam and Eve actually came under the selfish and proud influence of the Devil, becoming subjects of his rule.

I believe you are referring to Satan, the god of this world's system. What that means is he is able to control and invade the lives of nonbelievers, and those nonbelievers do and see things differently than the people who have accepted Jesus and are following God. Most, not all, nonbelievers do not see anything wrong with sex before marriage, cheating if you feel like it , lying or manipulation to benefit yourself. Christians are, according to the bible, new creations, with the mind of Christ. Once you are saved you are seeing things from Christs viewpoint, or at least you should be trying to do that. You are a different breed, and no longer think like the rest of the world. You are a child of God.

The Earth is as Heaven to satan, he can rise no higher. The Earth is but a boot camp or testing ground for those going up.Learn your lessons well, here, for you don't want to flunk out of boot camp. Hell does exist, and Earth isn't it. The Bible has it right. Trust and obey.
