How is heat energy used to generate electricity in a modern power plant???

Heat is used to cause a material (steam, for example) to expand, and the force of the expansion is used to turn turbines that are hooked up to generators - coils of wire moving in magnetic fields, or magnets moving inside of coils, either way works to generate electricity.

power plants use heat by heating up water till it turns to

steam. the steam is then used to turn the turbine in an

electrical generator, thereby creating electricity.
