Yes, it is wrong for anyone to celebrate excessive capitalism ... not just religious people either.

Wouldn't it be nice if more people got back to a real celebration of family? If more people would make the true meaning of the holidays the most important thing, rather than the stuff?

beginning to get the gist of your posts.
you are a little bit isolated there with your p.c. freind?
(i'm talking 'bout the computer)
It must be a lonely life when you single out particular religious beliefs for your vitriol without knowing which you hate most or why you cannot find a thing to believe in?
Me I believe in me , my wife and kids, the pureness of the good I know I've done through the years. And knowing that most of the time I've learned from the bad I've done (too much to list on your thread!)
When you reach your twenties or thirties, you might look back on this period of mind-masturbation, gently titillating the fragile 'cast-iron' faiths of those who obviously feel a need to respond.(if they didn't their faith would be the more obvious and better assured)
But similarly, if you had something to do(like love somebody and be loved) then we wouldn't have to waste our time reading your assinine questions.
Maybe you are devasteted that BB charlie wont take you to the altar, or the mosque, or sinagogue, or chapel, meeting house, las vegas or kigs cross?
Merry Whatevermas. I love giving presents to my kids.

There is nothing mandatory about it. No one _forces_ you to buy gifts or to overspend. You know what your budget is; stick to that, or let your family know that you intend to opt out, and they shouldn't exchange gifts with you, this year. It's that simple.

My family decided to stop exhanging gifts among ourselves; instead, we all contribute to a particular charity as a group donation. That way, all the money we would spend on frivolous stuff for each other gets put to good use, and we don't have to go insane shopping.

I believe it's called the mandatory excessive consumerism month.

Hey, girl, your hair looks MUCH better down than up. The updo made you look WAY too uptight.

Mandatory excessive capitalism day? Never heard of it.

Gotta go shopping...cya.
