dont say modest because that word is different for everybody.
If possible, be specific.
If it states somewhere in the bible how women should dress then please show me.
Also, how are men suppose to dress? they kinda all dress the same dont they? all covered most of the time.

okay, here's a question more specific; is it okay for women to wear short skirts? above the knee length? to me if its like 3inches above your knees, its okay but is it okay to God?
Also, are we allowed to show cleavage like we all do?

Don't get stuck on the details. Look at the big picture.

Love the Lord with all your heart and all your soul and all your might. And love your neighbor as yourself.

That's the Gospel.

If you're dressed in a way that shows love to your neighbor (ie not tempting them or causing them discomfort) then God's OK with it.

It's the same for women and men.

PS all the "rules" about dress were written by Paul, not by Jesus.

I'm not going to say 'modest', I'm going to say 'tasteful'. and even tht would vary from region to region and country to country.

In your case though...I think you know what youre comfortable wearing. I would personally use that as a guideline, rather than what was written two thousand years ago+ some. Things have changed, and while people love to quote the Bible out of context it really doesnt do much for TODAY. As another poster pointed out, 2 kinds of material in clothing back then = bad. But, do you really think God cares what kind of fabric youre wearing? Headcovering on a woman back then was supposed to be a sign of modesty. But today...nobody really cares if a woman wears a hat or not...the context really isnt the same. But if it makes you feel better to drape a shawl over your head when you pray, or put on a hat, then *shrugs* whatever you feel you should do. I figure God knows what is in our hearts and minds, and the inside is far more important than the outside.

But if you really want a mindbender on all these quotes, the Bible says 'dress simple' in spots, yet "sunday best" has become almost the same as "putting on the Ritz"....discuss. ;)

See also 1 Peter 3: 3-4

"Your adornment must not be merely external--braiding the hair, and wearing gold jewelry, or putting on dresses; but let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the imperishable quality of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is precious in the sight of God."

Women should dress in WOMENS clothes(dresses, skirts, etc). There is to be distinction among male/female. Women are to let there hair grow long and men to cut theirs shorter. Neither should run about sleeveless or in shorts. That leaves nothing to the imagination. See I Tim. 2:8-10, Rom. 12:2, I Peter 3:3-5, I John 2:16,Deut. 22:5, I Cor. 11:6, 14-15.Rev.9:8. Let the outside be natural beauty as God intended. Guard your body, reserving it for your husband alone.

Dress so as not to draw attention to any part of your body. The more covered, the better. Dressing for ladies is supposed to be modest, yet not wear anything that would draw attention to her.
Usually long skirts, blouse, jacket,,,,,or long dress - loose fit.

There are alot of ways ladies dress that looks good, yet isn't outstanding or descriptive.

The book of Timothy was supposedly written by Paul; not God so we can discount Timothy's instructions in chapter 2. This is obviously Paul's point of view, not God's. After all, God did not talk to any of the apostles. They may write such things as "May the Lord Jesus Christ..." but it is just their own thoughts & not God's....and it is Timothy whom is against women questioning what they are taught and how they should act...again, not God.

Modest yes. And it is exact on always wearing woman's clothes, not men's; if you are a woman. It also says to dress plain and simple. (That is probably rare of any of us.) Jesus also said not to own more than two outfits and if someone needs one of them to give it to them.
Also for a woman to always cover their heads when praying. The catholic pope removed that; but it is not gone from all the Bibles.

I'm going to say modestly, but explain furthur. God wants women to dress in a way that can reveal their God-given beauty, but without providing temptation or impure thoughts for men. Women are also to wear head coverings when praying in the presence of men (1Cor. 11:6)

(1 Timothy 2:9-10) . . .Likewise I desire the women to adorn themselves in well-arranged dress, with modesty and soundness of mind, not with styles of hair braiding and gold or pearls or very expensive garb, 10 but in the way that befits women professing to reverence God, namely, through good works.
