I guess whether one considers a YN a "fun" job kind of depends on what one considers "fun."
YN's a desk job. You'll be typing, filing, preparing and dealing with the paperwork upon which the military runs. YNs tend to work closely with officers. The CO and XO have YNs working for them, I'd guess that Department Heads would probably have a YN working for them, if nothing but to prepare their reports.. They can work in the Personnel Office... anywhere clerical support is required.
Personally I would have found it rather tedious. But there are YN's who've made it to Warrant... I knew one.
As has been pointed out, the Navy's been combining ratings recently, the job will still be there, but the title may go away.
As far as travel, About half of your career will b e aboard ship. My guess is that they'll not throw you into a small command and let you run the office until you've made rate... maybe at least E-5, or E-6. So, you might get an aircraft carrier or other large ship. You'll hit the deep-water ports. But you will travel. And you'll see foreign lands. And you'll meet different peoples. And when you get back to the ship, you're home, meals, everything will be there waiting for you. The Navy pioneered the concept of "mobile home." ;-)

I have been in the Navy for 2 years and there are plenty of fun jobs. I think yeoman is going away, though. They are condensing a lot of the rates these days
