Depends on the context of how you're using the word. Someone might say to another person who plays the martyr, "Oh, that's rich" in a sarcastic way. Someone who has a lot of money may be rich. Others may be considered rich because they live life to the fullest and their lives are filled with people they love and who love them. It really depends on the context in which you use the word. Rich is not a word I use often, and when I do - it is usually in reference to a chocolatey dessert of some sort.

Hmm. Its a very flexible line, I think.

I think that rich is entirely subjective. What I consider rich is completely different from what someone else considers rich.

I think that you are rich the moment that you have enough money to not have to worry about immediate issues ie bills, payments, sudden expenses, etc. Thus, this line can vary because what one person can comfortably live on without worry is different for different people, where they live, what they have, etc.

having a family .. some friends .. roof over your head.. safe place to live .. bed to sleep in .. warm clothes .. hot meals every day and clean water .. and health

if you have all of these .. or even just some ..(which most americans do) then you are more fortunate then MANY in the world.

Its sad that many of us americans forget what really is important in life

An abundance of what's important. What's important is usually changing, but the basis stays the same: family, friends, love, health, happiness.
